Gmail only partially loads. I get "insecure connection" messages on half the sites I go to. Firefox is asking if I'm new to Firefox: no. My bookmarked items aren't loading correctly or aren't available at all. Last Pass password manager is gone. I've tried rebooting computer completely, refreshing Firefox. Nothing helps.

Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st:

then

If it asks you to take the tour there is a Firefox Icon left top corner of window that is greyed out. Click it and skip it.

I already tried Refresh. Didn’t help. For now, I’ve switched to Safari. Too frustrating to have lost so much functionality in Firefox.

What security software do you have? Check this article about your security software.

Note that if you refresh the refresh feature in Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks and history, form data, tabs) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.

It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
close and restart Firefox in case errors are reported and retry

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
