Thunderbird is trying to open this Email but eventually says thunderbird not responding as has to close. Same problem if I try to delete this Email. The sender sent the same email to other friends who don't have a problem with it but they do not use Thunderbird. All other functions are working OK if I just ignore this Email. I don't really care about seeing it I would just like to get rid of it. It is apparently about a 3 minute video of the storms in China.

Go to your email provider's webmail page and see if you can delete it there.

No trouble deleting from Bigpond server webmail, but problem still exists at my Thunderbird client end. If I just ignore it I can leave it there forever or I could delete and reinstall Thunderbird.

Do you have an Anti-Virus product scanning incoming downloaded files? If yes, then suggest you stop AV from scanning TB folders on start up and also stop scanning incoming/outgoing mail. AV scanning could be causing a problem.

Are you talking about a pop or imap mail account?

If imap: Account Settings > Synchronisation & Storage Do you synchronise folders for offline use to download everything? Do you have a limit on what gets downloaded, so large messages do not get downloaded ? Has that email been auto filtered on download into a different folder?

re :I have turned Norton AV off Then it is possible the default may be operating.

Start the computer in 'Safe mode with networking' Then start Thunderbird in 'Safe Mode'

Now try to delete email.
