Hello,

I thought I'd set Firefox as my default browser, every time I want to search for something online I'm given the option to search with Google. Why?

Thanks Andy

Hi, Firefox is a Internet/Web Browser and Google is a Search Provider. When you ask Firefox to search it turns to Google or what ever one you care to set it to in the list from the 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Search. More will be coming to choose from.

You can do away with all the tiles and set the new tab to go to any search engine in any country and language you care to.

So as a Browser you asked to search so with the built in links to the search engines Firefox does so. When you ask Firefox to go to cnn.com it does so as it handles the address conversion to a numerical number inside and connects.
