Thanks.I deleted the "Youtube" favicon. I then used the "Add a Top Site" function. I added Google.com w/ the correct image. It now seems to be OK. Still have no idea why it happened.

Hi, canyonlight3142 can I ask you in detail what happens? I need to solve your problem!
thank you
Well, click the "+ open new tab". This brings up the Google "search the web" page w/ 8 Top site choices. The pinned Google page icon is not a Google image. It is a YouTube image. It does function properly ( when clicked it goes to the Google Home pg. )
Thanks
Hi, Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.
To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu
and click the close button
).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.
Please report back to say if this helped you!
Thank you.
Do you see the correct favicon if you check the history of this link?
You can try to delete the thumbnails folder with Firefox closed.
You can use the "Local Directory" button on the about:profiles page to open this folder in File Explorer. You can go to the thumbnails folder and clear this folder with Firefox closed.
If that doesn't work then try to rename favicons.sqlite (favicons.old.sqlite) in the main profile folder with Firefox closed (Root Directory on about:profiles). If this didn't work then you can undo/reverse this modification.
I deleted the favicon. Then clicked add a top site.Added google.com. Favicon is a YouTube red screen w/ arrow. It says google.com below it. It functions correctly. ( It links to the Google home page ). There is a Google favicon ( a multicolored google G ) that links to the page you would get if typing google in the search box.
Hi there, A clean reinstall does not have an affect on the top sites pinned on your new tab page. This is a default feature in Firefox.
It sounds like the favicon needed updating, can you confirm the solution above that lead you to the correct favicon to the correct page?
