All of my passwords are gone, did not use master password. how do i get them back?
Hi, I created a new thread for this since the only active related thread is over 5 months old. I discovered last night that all of my password stored in Firefox are now completely gone and it does not save new passwords or login information. I was using the latest version of Firefox but attempted going back to vs 59 to see if I could get my passwords back but it did not help. Can i get them back? 1. I did not use the master password feature 2. I looked on my system for a key3.db file and found none. 3. I looked on my system for the .json file and could not locate it. 4. Running windows 10 vs 1803 5. Im not sure about add ons will have to check tonight.
Any help would be appreciated. thank you

Hi Pkshadow, thank you for your help. I just wanted to let you know that I came across a fix that worked for me last night. Ill share the link so others might be able to find it. thank you again. :)
Essentially this is it, although my login.json files had .corrupt on the end like login.json.corrupt ...
You can force Firefox to re-import your old passwords. Here's how: 1. In the location bar, type "about:config" (without the quotes) and press <Enter>. 2. Click [I'll be careful, I Promise!] 3. Search for the preference: signon.importedFromSqlite 4. Right click on signon.importedFromSqlite, and select "Reset". 5. Go to Help-->Troubleshooting_Information, then click on [Open Folder]. That will open Windows Explorer in your Firefox profile. 6. Close Firefox 7. In your profile folder, delete the file "logins.json".
The next time you start Firefox, it should re-import your passwords from your old passwords file.

Hi, by going back and forth may have made any anything impossible to recover :
- logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
- if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db
See if have 2 Profiles :
Look for a folder on your Desktop called OldFirefoxProfile.
If none of the above they are gone.

Thank you Pkshadow. I was afraid of that. I will take a look when I get home this evening and let you know. thank you again. :)
Suggest not using Master Password. Use a extension instead : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=password+manager

That was very good work. Well done.
In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
