What is a good but inexpensive email provider which works well with Thunderbird?
Hello, I asked a question about changing from Outlook to Thunderbird and noticed Thunderbird is simply grabbing from my Outlook service. My intention is to terminate my Outlook service. Is there a good email service provider which is inexpensive but works well with Thunderbird and will be transparent to my customers? Thank you. Chris

You need to be more clear about what you are talking about as that statement does not really make any sense. You sound rather confused about something.
Thunderbird does not grab from anything from 'Outlook' program. Thunderbird can import emails from 'Outlook' email client. However, you have to deliberatley choose to import those emails in a one off action, so you have a copy of past emails available. This may be important in a business situation and a POP mail account was previously used in 'Outlook' email client program. This may be useful if you want to retain access to emails that are not stored on the server and where you cannot access them via an imap mail account setup. But you have to choose to do this.
'Outlook ' program is an email client. 'Thunderbird ' program is an email client'. In both email client programs you can create mail accounts for any of your email addresses. In each case, 'Outlook' or 'Thunderbird' can then access the server that receives all the emails and download them.
'Outlook.com' is a server which receives emails for specific email addresses.
Thunderbird can also be set up to see emails held on the 'outlook.com' server. Which is nothing to do with 'Outlook' program.
So if you have created a mail account for the same email address in both 'Outlook' and 'Thunderbird' then both programs can download from same server. If you have an email address which receives and stores emails in an 'outlook.com' server then any email client program can access and download them.
Any email client program can access and download from the same server.
It would seem you used 'Outlook' email client program to access an 'outlook.com' server because that was the server which receives all emails sent to your email address.
Now you are using 'Thunderbird' email client program to access an 'outlook.com' server because that was the server which receives all emails sent to your email address.
If your current email address is one that uses the 'outlook.com' server and this is an email address you wish to stop using then you can consider the following options:
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will also provide you with email addresses and store those emails on their server or they will use another server.
If you have a website hosted by a web hosting company, then they will also provide email addresses and store emails on their server. 'GoDaddy' off website builds etc. 'Fasthosts' is another. I use 'Fasthosts' and never had any issues.
'Gmail.com' is also a server. You can create an account with gmail.com and get a free gmail email address. I also have a gmail address and never had a problem. They also have a calendar which can be hooked up to Thunderbird or you can just use the Thunderbird Lightning Calendar in it's own right.. https://support.google.com/mail/answer/56256?hl=en
'GMX' is another well used provider of email. I've not used this but many do with happy results. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMX_Mail
There are several more. It is really up to you to choose a method that suits your needs.

What do you mean by "transparent to my customers"? If you want them to be able to continue to use your Outlook/Live/Hotmail address, you can forward those to a new address, but you can't terminate that service. The transition to a new address can take years if you don't want to miss messages.
