Why does it say Access denied when I try to post my question after I spent all this time typing out? Now it's gone and I have to type it again. .

Oh look! It posted my complaining just fine!

Ok, let's try this AGAIN!

When I click on some links in Thunderbird, rather than opening up the actual webpage, it opens up a Yahoo search page with random characters in the search field. So then I have to open my Hotmail in a browser and when I click on the link, it opens up just fine.

the only difference I can see here is Thunderbird passing the link to the browser and the browser doing it internally. SO just a guess. DO you have some sort of internet security or anti phishing or anti malware products installed that might like to look at clicked links at the operating sytem level.

Perhaps it is interfering

oh and complaints about the forum, please post here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors

There is nothing we can do about how Mozilla choose to run their forum.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have any special security on my browser or computer. Some links open up fine from Thunderbird such as the one I clicked to get to this page. Some open up as I described with the Yahoo search page. But the problem links open up fine when opened directly from Hotmail.

Anti virus? They do all sorts of things, like hack your communications.

Just MSE. But it doesn't affect when I open the link from within my Hotmail. And it doesn't affect when I open some links through Thunderbird.
