In new version 52.8.0 (Win 64) option to set maximum cache size still resets to 350MB when Thunderbird is restarted?

I posted this enquiry for previous Thunderbird version 52.7.0 but it seems to still be present in the new version 52.8.0. In Options / Network & Disk space, if you change the maximum cache size from the default 350MB it always resets to that value after restarting the application. Is this a bug? Am I too fussy?

In TB60 the settings have changed indeed, but in TB52 it is also possible to change this value. You have to set a hidden preference first though. Go to Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor and search for the pref browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled en toggle it to false. After that, it is possible to change the size of the disk cache and the setting will stay.

Bugs often take a long time to fix, especially if they are not security related.

As I told you last time the pre release version has an additional option, I assume to fix this very bug. It will be released with Thunderbird 60, not some point release of Thunderbird 52.

OK thanks for the information. Admittedly this isn't desperately important. Not one of my strong points but I will try to be more patient  ;-)

Well now, I just tried this and it works perfectly. Great stuff — Many thanks!
