Is there any way to see if my e-mail was read by the recipient?

My wife and I both use Firefox, but we often wonder if the person we sent mail to actually GOT it, and just as importantly actually OPENED IT (i,e. did they read it or not). Is there a setting, Firefox extension app, to do this? If NOT, what would be a good third party add-on to use. Please help. Ron

It is up to the recipient of the message to decide whether to allow the sender to know that a message has been read and usually this is a feature not enabled by default since you wouldn't want a spammer to know that your email exists.

HI, since Firefox is not a Email Client and you are not stating what you use to actually write the email with I have no idea. What are you using to write email, a online mail like gmail or yahoo or are you using Thunderbird ?

Some e-mail providers offer a 'return receipt' that is sent to you when your message is read.

Contact your e-mail provider for information.

Thanks to all for the Feedback. I was a bonehead and forgot that Firefox is only a browser. My wife uses Yahoo, so THAT would be the email program in question. Any help on that (a setting, check box, properties, ...whatever). Am I stuck with some third-party program to do the trick? Any suggestions on the best one, if so? Don't really want to upgrade to some premium paid version ...guess I'm being cheap. Won't bother the forum with another request on this.
