Replying at the top doesn't work
Hi,
I don't understand why, even if in the composition settings of the account I configured that the reply should be above of the text, the reply starts below the original text.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Andrea

Assuming you have done this:
- closed any open 'Write' windows.
- right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'settings'
- select 'Composition & addressing' for account
- select 'automatically quote the original message when replying'
- select 'start my reply above the quote'
- click on 'OK'
Try checking this:
- 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab
- click on 'Config Editor' button
it will say be careful :)
In top search type: on_top This will list the various accounts / identities where you have selected to 'reply_on_top' and the Value should say 1 eg: mail.identity.id1.reply_on_top; Value = 1 Those will be shown in bold text. If it is not saying 1:
- right click on line and select 'Modify' to get a box allowing to change the value.
If you already see all seems correct then check this line:
- mail.identity.default.reply_on_top
If the value is 0 then modify to say 1
- Close window using top right X
- click on OK
Exit and restart thunderbird. Select email and see if 'Reply now works.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:
- Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
Hi Matt,
I've tried to restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled but the issue remains. The reply stays below the text and I can't understand why.
