Is there a way to install Firefox Beta on my smart phone by downloading it to my computer and then transferring it to my android phone.

This is a new phone and I don't want to accept Google's Terms to access the internet. I don't trust Google with my privacy any further than I can throw them.

I found were to download the app. My concern is would it try to install on my computer when I downloaded it and if not...what folder do I transfer it to on my phone and how do I start the install.

You can download the current Beta build of Firefox for Android at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/android/beta/all/

The .apk file is not going to install on Windows as even if it was a .exe file you would need to still run it yourself.

Transfer the apk file to your phone and open the file in a file manager application on your device. You may need to toggle a setting to allow apps from Unknown Sources or such.

Hi birddogz42, you may want to try an Android forum for advice on transferring files via USB cable and how to sideload them. I've used this site from time to time:

I think there is zero chance Windows will try to install a .apk file, but if you right-click the link and use Save Link As, then Firefox shouldn't even provide the option of directly opening the file.
