Suddenly (past week) all emails to Yahoo emails are bounced back.

Suddenly, just last week, all emails to Yahoo addresses from my Thunderbird account are bounced back. My friends with Yahoo emails have to contact me via my Gmail account. Has there been a recent update to cause this or is this an issue being caused by Yahoo? I don't know how to figure it out.

Please post the full error message.

My friends with Yahoo emails have to contact me via my Gmail account.

Why? As per above you do seem to have a problem sending messages to other Yahoo accounts, but not receiving messages.
