The 32-bit installer installs the 64-bit browser
- I already checked this thread which is the same problem but I don't have permission to reply to threads yet and I was told to ask a new question (this thread does not solve my problem though)*

I need to run tests of my software on both 32 and 64 bit.
The problem I run into on this Windows 7 machine is that when I download and run the 32-but installer, it installs the 64-bit browser. After uninstalling it, I have used Everything Search to delete every folder named Mozilla or Firefox. I have also run CCleaner and deleted any files related to the Mozilla or Firefox. Then rebooted my computer. I still have the issue, however. Is it possible to get access to a real installer package rather than to let the default installer choose the version for me under the hood?
Many thanks

If you download from www.mozilla.org while on Windows you get served a online stab installer that will install 32-bit or it will do 64-bit if your system supports as in 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 10 and at least 2GB RAM.
To get separate 32-bit and 64-bit full offline setups for Windows go to www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
If you want to have both then install each in their own separate folders and make sure the desktop shortcuts are pointing to correct ones. You will not be able to run both at same time with same Profile as you need to start with ProfileManager or specific Profile and -no-remote switch.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I see what happened. The reason I didn't notice this answer in other threads is because I already tried to download the 32-bit version specifically, from the advanced install options page. That's very misleading! I'll attach a screenshot of what I did that was not solving the problem.
James' answer actually did solve my problem. Thanks.
