How do I turn off phone number recognition on a Mac? I don't have Skype.
Just about any string of numbers turns into a blue link. If I hover over the numbers, the popup shows, "tel:(the numbers) Edit Remove" The "tel:1234" is also a blue link.
I've clicked the Remove option, which cleared the link, but it eventually comes back.
I've searched here and the answers refer to Skype, which I have not installed.
If it matters, I see this when I'm on one of my notebooks on the Evernote web page.

I couldn't find a solid lead on where this "feature" originates, but I suspect it's a macOS thing.
Clicking the "Remove" option in the link/hover popup wasn't a lasting fix. However, by deleting and re-typing the numbers, the link has so far not reappeared.

Hi !
Would you please take a look at this article ?
https://support.apple.com/en-sg/HT201349
Any good ?
If not - maybe you could contact Apple support :
Thanks, Happy. It didn't occur to me that it was an Apple thing. I just opened Safari and it's doing the same thing.
The first link you posted didn't help. As an example of what's happening, with Evernote opened in the browser, a sequence of numbers shows as a link that can be clicked to dial. For instance, "0800-1600," or "301285659," or "301285659" becomes a "tel:" link even though they are not telephone numbers.
I'll try Apple Tech Support - thanks again.
Keep us posted, will you ?
But : Maybe somebody else will read this and come up with the perfect solution for you (fingers crossed ..... )
Couldn't let it go just yet and found this - only applies to iPhone, though. But : 'getting warm' .......
Yeah, I saw that one too.
Auto-detection (of what it THINKS is a phone number) is what I think it's doing. However, I haven't been able to find out how to disable it on macOS.
This looks close, but no answer yet.
So this is a Mac Issue and not a Firefox Issue. Follow this up with them. No need to reply unless you are choosing one of Happy112's info as the Solution.
Thank You for Contacting Mozilla Firefox Support
kinoav8r is welcome to reply on the progress of fixing this.
Thanks, but still no fix.
Still working the issue. It may actually be an Evernote feature that is misbehaving.

May very well be it (just did some searching) - would you try to contact them (scroll down to 'Contact Support') ?
