can't save removal from site data
I followed the steps to remove a (not all) location's site data. I clicked remove and it was removed. However there is no "save" button appearing on the window that allows me to remove individual sites. So I cannot remove individual site data. I can only "clear all" which I do not want to do. I am running windows 7 on firefox. No major changes.... no virus. Why doesn't the "save" button appear.
Please help me. I have spent way too long in forums and other places seeking an answer.

To all the people who answered, thank you.
It seems that all I had to do was to zoom out to have the "save" button appear.
Also thanks for the procedure to uninstall & reinstall Firefox. Since my version is the current version, but it keeps crashing, I will do that as well.
Happy Holidays - and thank you for your help and kindness.

Somebody, help MoniqueDC then tell me how to block it all.....
I am still looking for a good fix to block it all. If just clearing one site there is Site Date and that is correct there is no save. And if you clear them all and save it flushes out a bunch of stuff including some cookies that have nothing to do with the site you wanted to remove.
I have no good answer as they will return even if press save.
Not found what I am looking for in the code yet.
I do know I also tried blocking from the Site Notification Next to the Address Bar the i in a circle. CNN keeps showing up, Have clicked that and denied it under permissions everything.... It still comes in though I get icons for all the permissions i turned off for it in the Address Bar.
It is new and finding the code is not easy or releases on how to not around yet. Volunteers are last to know.

Thank you, PK. Looking forward to the results of your investigation. The reason I posted the question is because according to Mozilla help, there should be a save button so I was wondering if there has been a change or if I needed to do something.
I agree that Clear All is not a good answer because of the reasons you sited above. I am not a coder, merely an intermediate level user.
My hope is that someone from the Mozilla staff? will see this and help us out. Looking forward to your next update.
Where are you trying to remove this data?
Is that in the location/address bar drop-down list or in the Bookmarks/History Manager (Library) or elsewhere?
You can use these steps to remove saved items from an autocomplete drop-down list.
- click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
- highlight an entry in the drop-down list with cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key - press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry
Note that hovering with the mouse no longer works.
This is a screenshot of the Site Data dialog from a different thread showing what happens when you remove one site, leave one, and click Save Changes. Is that the same dialog you're trying to use? Does yours cut off above the Cancel and Save Changes buttons -- you don't see those buttons?
The problem in the other thread was, if you remove the last site listed in this box, Save Changes will tell you it is clearing ALL your cookies. It seems to be a limitation of this dialog.
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.
If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Thank you, Cor. I will investigate your solution. It doesn't solve my original issue of using the "site data" section of Options to quickly remove stored site data and save the remainders. The "save" button does not even appear on the window that opens.
Since the Mozilla help routines tell users to remove selected sites and then save, there is either an error in the help description or there is a problem with the "save" button not being displayed.
Again, thank you for the alternative. I still want to know how to effectively use the easily available "Site Data" section in Options./preferences.

I am not trying to remove auto-fill/reply. I am seeking to use the Site Data area in the Preferences/options that appear when I click the icon (for open options). Under "privacy and Security" I access the Site Data. I don't want to remove all.
I want to be able to select a site and move it (which is possible), but even though FireFox help says I should then be able to save the change, there is no "save" button that allows me to do so.
If I exit at this point, the selected removals reappear. It is obvious that the "save" button is critical to keep the selected removals from reappearing.
This is what appears to be missing. I can certainly use the other workaround , but still cannot use the simple Site Data function for lack of the save button.

JS, (apologies for earlier private message. I just found out "quote" means reply in Firefox lingo.)
This is exactly what is happening. The window opens and lets me remove selected items, but there is no "save" button available.
I have 2 choices. Close the window (which results in no changes) or Remove All (which I don't want to do for the reasons more knowledgeable users hove listed here. )
Are there steps I need to take to get the "save" button to appear? My versition of FireFox is 57.0.2 for 64 bit.
uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
