Thunderbird becomes irresponsive for a long time after writing a few characters in the To: field

Whenever I start typing in any of the address fields Thunderbird becomes irresponsive for 6-7 seconds, then when it gets back and I type again it hangs again in the same way. When editing the body of the email everything works in the normal way it seems to be only when the focus is in the address fields.

I have tried to restart with out any extensions activated but the problem remains. Also tried to disable the lookup in local address books to no avail. LDAP lookup is not enabled.

Thunderbird 52.5.0 (32-bit), Windows 10 64 bit

Extensions: Adblock Plus, Enigmail, Lightning

Thanks in advance T

OK, finally found out that for this specific account the lookup settings were set to override the global settings. And it was trying to lookup on a not too responsive local ldap server.

Problem solved.

So I still haven't resolved the problem, but found out that if I'm not connected to the net, then there is no delay.

So it seems to be related to some kind of lookup, only as mentioned I believe only "lookup in local adress books" is enabled.

Does anyone have any idea on how to further debug this?

Thanks in advance
