I have installed Firefox Quantum on my computer but, for some reason, text is not rendered for most websites. I've tried sites like Google, Youtube, Facebook and Reddit and none of them display text. For some reason, mozilla.org displays text accordingly.

I couldn't find anything related to the problem, so I am posting it here.

OS: Ubuntu Gnome 17.10;

Firefox version: both 57 and 58;

Installation method: tar.gz file from the website and installation from ppa:mozillateam/firefox-next

Answering the questions: it is not a white-on-white problem, the characters are not displayed on screen. The bug also happens when using safe mode.

I have gathered a little more information and it seems my problem is related to bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1412090. I followed the steps mentioned in one of the comments and, by changing the value of `security.sandbox.content.level` to 2, everything is back to normal.

According to the link, the bug is fixed in version 59. We'll have to wait and see.

This is very strange.

If you use Select all (either right-click > Select All or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+a), is the text there, i.e., white-on-white problem?

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, userChrome.css, userContent.css, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

From within Firefox, you can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?
