As of today, I can not send email, only receive them. I have: a) added @verizon.net to user name in Mozilla for both incoming and outgoing b) changed password on AOL c) changed password in Mozilla d) checked server settings - as near as I can figure everything ok there e) tried to set up new account as a work around but that did not work either. However, it tests just fine.

Password, server settings, user name all work fine at AOL/iPAD/iPhone.

I can receive email to tomperrin@verizon.net, just can not send out.

My guess is that a) outgoing server is incorrectly configured somehow or b) this is yet another AOL screwup

Under Server Settings, I only see the incoming server port 995. Outgoing port is supposed to be SMTP - 465 - SSL but I can not easily find where to check this.

Given previous questions on your help desk it appears that many others have had the same problem.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

OK, I finally fixed this when I was able to figure out where the Outgoing Server Settings were located. It would be nice if Mozilla could put these back where they were in the last century, i.e. adjacent to the Incoming Server Settings.

Prior to that, AOL/Verizon's key change [which is hardly explicit in AOL's instructions] is that you MUST add @verizon.net to the User Name.
