When choosing a Page change it is blocked. The "allow button" is required. It would be nicer if this was not necessary.

Chosen solution

Could you check whether the redirect block is set here:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences

In the left column, click Advanced. Then on the right side, with the "General" mini-tab active, make sure the following is not selected (box is not checked): "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"

Any improvement?

By the way, thank you for sharing your list of extensions (next to your post, Question Details > More System Details). There are bunch that have nearly the same version number, which is suspicious to me. They might have snuck in as part of a bundle with something you wanted. Could I suggest disabling all the ones you do not use on a regular basis to make sure they aren't interfering?

You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions that Firefox installs on its own are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious? If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox before the change takes effect. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any difference?

Note that the setting in "Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

You were so helpful to take me to the setting I was not aware of. OK now. What a relief.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm getting new insight on the controls for a novice.
