I am having trouble downloading the S3Fox Add On because “the add-on is not compatible with your version of Firefox.” Could someone help me to figure out if I need to download a different version of Firefox (i.e. which to choose, where to go to download), or let me know if there is a different reason I am having trouble downloading?

Note that I just downloaded Firefox today, which I believe is the newest version.

Thanks in advance.

Firefox is getting a complete re-haul and written in a new programming language "Rust". As such all the older extensions no longer work unless the creator updates them to work with the new version. So basically it's best to just forget about the old addons, choose from the new ones/wait for the creators to catch up. Running an older version that doesn't have all the new technology defeats the purpose of trying out Firefox.

If you want to try the old extensions you can download an "ESR" version of Firefox that still receives security updates. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.3.0esr/ or https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/45.9.0esr/

if you want to give the pre-release a go: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer/
