Hello Mac, It's never a good idea to combine two problems in one ticket. Especially in this case. Your first problem is a Thunderbird problem the second is a browser problem.

Regarding your mom I think the reason why all her email are going into the local folders account is that the account is set up as POP! Please check with her the account settings

• by right clicking on the account in question and select "Settings".
• select the "Server Settings" underneath the account
• it should state at the top the "Server Type"
• It should be set to "IMAP Mail Server"!

When set to POP then the email is retrieved from the server and stored locally. Any email retrieved will be removed from the server. This is like the post man is delivering your mail to your mail box. He is not keeping a copy.

IMAP is different. Here the email is managed on the server and you only get a copy. This allows you to check your email from different devices. In my opinion the better option.

In case the account was created as POP and you need to change that,

• Check that your mail provider supports IMAP
• Disable your POP account
• Create the IMAP account
• Transfer your local messages to the server
• Delete your POP account

There is nothing wrong with using POP instead of IMAP if it works for your mom.

Ok.. as for browser problem.. the problem was firefox itself! This is the first time I have been able to use it to log in here, in over 2 months.
