I can log on to Mozilla, but same logon won't work in forums. WHY?
Am I ACTUALLY reaching the forum? I can't send SMTP mail - ISP responds but says it can't send mail from an anonymous user. I'm the ONLY user. Nor am I anonymous. I've had port problems, perhaps due to hack. So only "anonymous" has the right to use Tbird, which won't send email from ME. I have W7.
I can't log on to forums. My Mozilla logon is rejected for forums. WHY?

If you could not log into the forum you would not be posting here.
Get the current server setting from your provider and make the needed changes. Sounds like you have the authentication setting wrong.
Your provider does not care how many people are in the room. Only that you have your server setting correct.
The message is from your provider, not Thunderbird.
What I said was correct. I could log on to Mozilla, but when I tried to access the forums, it asked for a logon, and nothing worked. I wasn't referring to people in the room. I meant I'm the only one whom I allow to use it. I'm aware the server sent the message.
I was responding to a question that allowed me into the forum, sort of by the back door.
I have noticed that I can't use authentication. Tried making one, and it didn't work, so I have no encryption or any security. Nor do I know how to get any.
My problem is that something changed the ports on Tbird. I didn't do it. I was able to send mail until about a week ago. Then I couldn't. I don't blame Tbird for that, either. It was a hack.
For a week, I've been trying to get Tbird to send messages. I am in Mexico. My ISP is on prodigy.net.mx. Tbird insists that the default SMTP port is 587. It is NOT supposed to be. That may be so in the U.S. but not here. I can change the port to 25, but it still says the default is 587, which is WRONG. The only difference with 25 is that it contacts the provider, and the provider comes back saying it isn't authorized to send mail for an anonymous user. With other port settings, it just times out. Even using 587. I cannot reset the Default SMTP port.
What was working fine a month ago, is not working now, and I made no changes.
