New PC and loaded thunderbird. When emails are downloaded from gmail, why do they still remain at gmail.com?
I used thunderbird on my old pc. Now have new one and when emails are downloaded, they remain on the remote server too. They used to be deleted upon being sent to t-bird. What happened? Also, can't seem to get all my contacts, only gmail ones to import. thanks

I’m guessing you are using POP for message retrieval.
- Make sure Leave messages on server in Thunderbird’s Account Settings > Server Settings is checked, and the options below them to match what you want, and - Make sure your Gmail webmail settings for POP under "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" are (still) set to "keep Gmails copy in Inbox" in the drop-down.
Where would you like to import contacts from, and how did you do this?
My guess would be you are using IMAP instead of pop and that is how IMAP works. What is your account type? Pop or IMAP?
That would be more obvious of course, the old PC probably used POP.
