Emails are regularly disappearing from my inbox sometimes within an hour of being received. I am able to retrieve them through 'search' provided I know what I am looking for.

Chosen solution

If the location is not your junk/spam folder, and you have no message filters, then my first suspicion is that you are accidentally dragging and dropping those e-mails.

Are you using a touch-pad on a laptop computer? In my experience as a computer tech, accidental actions with a touch-pad can be common with some people, and a big frustration.

Do you find those e-mails in the Junk/Spam folder or another folder?

Do you have any Message Filters set up? See Organize your messages with filters .

Are you using IMAP or POP for incoming e-mail?

Thanks for reply. Incoming is IMAP. Some missing located in Archive but unable to find any missing unopened mail. I do not have any Message Filters set up.

See my screenshot below for when I do a search and click on the e-mail I want.

I see a column called "Location", which is the folder the e-mail is in.

When you find the e-mail you are looking for, is the location (folder) it says it is in, the folder you expect it to be in? Does that e-mail show in that folder when to go to look at the contents of that folder?

more options

Email is in the folder indicated by "Location" but I do not understand how it got to be there rather than just showing on the Inbox listing.

I have the same problem - the email has disaapeared from the inbox but when I search and see the email the location is given as the inbox but I cannot find it there. I have looked in every folder but cannot see it anywhere - can it be hidden from view in some way? I am using a desktop with keyboard - any ideas would be very helpful -thanks
