I caught a trojan. Can I use Sync anyhow on the new set-up Firefox?
I caught a trojan. After setting up the whole system anew I'm anxious to use Sync because I don't know whether my old bookmarks and settings aren't contaminated. Should I sync or better stay off?
[The bug - COM SURROGATE based on DLLHOST.EXE, under WIN10 in this case - loads on and on up until to 6 GB, and nothing works any longer in Firefox. Also, you can't download anything or search for more than 2 - 3 websites at a time. It seems to be helpful to load and install K-Lite Codec Pack (DLLHOST.EXE is on video codecs which makes it so vulnerable) if you become aware of the bug in time. If so I may recommend the ESET Online Scanner first of all: https://www.eset.com/de/home/products/online-scanner/]

Sync isn't intended to be used as a backup medium for a solitary device. Too many user problems when used with one device. And if you would use Sync now with multiple devices you might risk "contaminating" the other devices.
You would be better off using FEBE or MozBackup. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/febe/ http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ Per user reports MozBackup still works fine, but the future of it might be very limited. The developer of MozBackup stopped working on it almost 2 years ago.
