Have set up notifications for my webmails, but when an email arrives, the notification flashes on then is gone, there is no sound to alert me either. Can notifications be customized. I notice there is a settings icon on the notification but it is not on screen long enough to be able to click on it. There should also be an icon left in the notification area of the task bar the same as Thunderbird does when an email arrives.

Thanks, have had a look but as you say, it isn't compatible with Firefox 49. I think I will use Thunderbird as the client. That will solve the problem. Once again, thanks for your input.

There are add-ons that can do that for you. Thier icons are on the toolbar.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

How did you set up the notifications you get now? Is it a feature of that website, or did you use an add-on?

It is a zoho mail feature

I see. (https://www.zoho.com/mail/help/appearance.html#alink11) It doesn't sound as though they are providing a lot of configurability, so you might need an add-on.

In the past the "X-Notifier" extension could work with Zoho, but it's hard to understand what is happening right now for two reasons:

(1) the author has posted a new version compatible with Firefox 50 and later, but not Firefox 49. If you want to try the last version for Firefox 49 and earlier, you can check the Versions page here:

https://www.zoho.com/mail/help/appearance.html#alink11

(2) you need a script for Zoho so the add-on knows how to work with your account, but Zoho itself has had some changes, so I don't know how up-to-date that is...
