I cannot copy and paste with Yahoo Mail, and persumably other utilities, within Firefox. It's a years old problem that Mozilla never seems really to fix.
The title says it all. I have the problem, it seems to go away, then it comes up again, and again, and again, and now it's here and seems to be here to stay. I have experienced this with generations of Macs and operating systems. I am currently running a very recent OS and the most recent Firefox. And, yes, I tried the about:config thing. It didn't work either. My preferences for this functionality were enabled. This cannot be rocket science people. I wish that you would just fix it, permanently. I am tired of transferring to Safari just to paste a block of text or a hyperlink into a Yahoo email! Thanks. I am still a supporter, and have been since 1996, in the days of Mac Mozaic! Richard S.

Thanks for the help! The solution worked for me. However, I would like Firefox to take responsibility for this problem. It just doesn't ever seem to happen with other browsers for Mac, such as Safari, and users, I think, should not have to slog through all of this trouble shooting and solution searching and trying, only to find a sub-optimal "patch," which is at once inconvenient and reduces the functionality of the programme by allowing the pasting of text within Firefox, but at the expense of any original textual formatting, including fonts and styles, which one might otherwise wish to keep. And, if the last decade or more of history is any guide, I will be seeing this problem yet again, like a bad penny! Frustrating... But thanks to the community out there, notwithstanding! R.
It's the formatting being not compatible access programs. Word works with those formats, so it translates.
