Hi wonderful Support People,

I know this fault has been raised innumerous times previously. But for me? Currently a problem.

My 'Server Not Found' error has increased greatly in frequency since moving across to Windows 10 x64 (from Win 7 x64), which simultaneously included installing a new version of Firefox in early June and subsequently updated to current 47.0.1.

At first I blamed the websites themselves (server down?), but as it became more persistent I tested the same website with a different browser and all was fine.

I have attempted almost all the suggestions listed in the FAQ Help section topic for this error type (including turning off Firewall, Disabling all browser extensions & add-ons, clearing Cache, DNS Prefetching, Checked for Malware). The only step I have yet to take is "Reset Firefox" due to it's last resort nature.

Often a website that cannot be accessed due to "Server Not Found" can successfully be accessed a short time later (within 30 minutes) without adjusting a single browser or system setting.

It's not a constant problem as 95% of the time websites connect without issue, but it is a problem.

Yours faithfully, Jason

Chosen solution

Have you tried flushing your DNS? Your DNS converts URLs into IP addresses. It saves these IP addresses in a table so that they can be accessed later. Flushing your DNS will clear this table and may fix the issue.

If that doesn't help the issue, please try resetting your Internet Options in Windows and resetting Internet Explorer. I know that it sounds strange, but sometimes invalid settings in the Internet Options or Internet Explorer can prevent Firefox from operating properly.

Please let us know if you are able to resolve the issue.
