How I can I prevent embedded mp3 files on a webpage from being loaded?

My university has a website where they publish information such as recordings of lectures. One page has several mp3 files embedded in it. When I open the webpage in Firefox, they are all loaded, which is a waste of my Internet bandwidth.

I have stopped the mp3s from playing by setting media.autoplay.enabled to false in about:config. However, I want to go a step further and prevent those embedded mp3s from even being loaded at all.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

It's not Flash. It's an <embed> tag with an mp3 file in it.

<embed name="AOIAudioEmbed" alt="" autoplay="false" loop="false" src="https://lms.rmit.edu.au/bbcswebdav/pid-7648775-dt-content-rid-17548501_1/xid-17548501_1" type="audio/x-wav" controller="true">

Please try it anyway. It blocks many things.
