I would like to know where Firefox stores the search history log when it is enabled. I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20 and Firefox 47, so where would the log be stored on my system and in which format? I've looked in various areas and run searches in ~/.config, ~/.cache and ~/.mozilla, but have found nothing so far.

Chosen solution

It is in the Firefox profile, it uses a database file called places.sqlite, that also includes your bookmarks.

The profile also stores session information which is a form of History as it may go back in time.
