How do I import a thunderbird address book from a backup to another computer?
The local computer store couldn't get my old computer fixed so they back it up on to my back up drive and sent me home. I'm working on another home computer and need to access my address book lists. I tried to read on the forum for a solution to no avail.
Chosen solution
Open 'Address Book' click on 'Tools' select : 'MoreFunctionsForAddressBook' > 'Actions for addressbooks' > 'Import addressbook from mab file'
Give new address a name and click on ok locate .mab file in backup and click on ok
repeat for all .mab files.

You need to find your profile on the backup. It will be hidden so you'll need to enable viewing of hidden files.
I'd suggest you search for profiles.ini - then drill down a couple of folders into something that's usually named <random_string>.default and look for files with a .mab extension. These are your address book files. They can be imported into your new Thunderbird using the More Functions For Address Book add-on.
thanks for your help. I think I found the correct .mab files where you said. I downloaded More Functions for Address Book and got it into Thunderbird. But I can't figure out how to use it?
