I am FED UP with being told that I need to update Firefox umpteen times every day, when ONCE IS ENOUGH!!!!
There should be on option to limit how often we are asked if we want to update now.

Since you appear to have WinXP you are served 43.0.1 on mozilla.org and www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
This is because many WinXP users are still using SP2 and not SP3 and since it is not possible tell by the default browser useragents on WinXP on whether the user has SP2 or SP3. Mozilla decided to serve a version that will install.

If you have WinXP SP3 then you can download 47.0.1 from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/47.0.1/win32/ and pick your language such as en-US and download the larger .exe file.

Do you close all Firefox tabs frequently? I thought you would only see the notification once per session or perhaps it's once per day if you keep at least one Firefox tab open until the next day.
Note: Do not go for the fake patch advertised on a colorful website with a Firefox logo and a bizarre address. That is an inducement to download malware.
Anyway, why are you sticking with Firefox 43 instead of updating to Firefox 47?
