How to solve SMTP server unknown when the server is OK

sounds like your internet provider has dodgy DNS servers. Or there is something on your machine interfering with your access to them. One thing that might be an issue is the anti virus.

My Internet service provider (bigpond) has such unreliable DNS that I use Googles.
