migration of juno account to thunderbird?
I am getting ready to install Thunderbird and transfer the Juno account, files and contacts. Can this be done without any big issues?
Chosen solution
I'm not totally sure, but I think Pop is only available to Juno paid accounts, not the free one.
You would need to run thunderbird the first time to auto create a profile. Then create mail acounts, one for each email address. Username will be your full email address. Password will be the same one you currently use to access webmail account. Here is a link to server settings:
After creating the mail account, check your Account Settings before you 'GetMessages'. Menu icon > Options > Account Settings click on 'Server Settings' If you want to keep a copy on the server: select: 'Leave messages on server'
make any other selections you require. Click on 'Junk Settings' check everything is set up as required so you can start to use 'Junk controls'...more info at link below:
click on OK to save and close Account Settings.
Click on 'Get Messages' Inbox should receive emails. Pop mail accounts can only access and download from the Inbox on the server to the Inbox in pop mail account in Thunderbird. Thunderbird cannot see any other folder on the server. This is not some quirk, it is how all pop mail accounts work.
To get emails that are currently in a different folder on the server into Thunderbird: Create a suitable folder in Thunderbird.
Access/Logon to webmail account. Move emails from folder into Inbox.
In Thunderbird click on 'GetMessages' those emails will then get downloaded to Inbox. Move those emails into a suitable folder for storage.
Repeat this action to get copies of emails in folders downloaded into Thunderbird.
Note: You will not see a 'Sent' folder until you actually send an email. then one is automatically created. This is also the same for 'Drafts, Templates and 'Archives'.
