Mail server password is required and I do not remember this. Everything worked fine for years and as of today I cannot access my mail. It reads: enter your password for susy.thurer on imaps.bluewin.ch Thanks for any help you can provide.

Chosen solution

my guess is either the mail server has had a change of connection setings or our anti virus has lost the plot and is blocking connection attempt.

I would bet on the latter really. Disable your email scanner in your anti virus and check Thunderbird is not blocked by the firewall component.
