Incoming email senders receive a blank email automatically apparently from me? How can this be fixed?
I've switched from Microsoft Outlook to Thunderbird for email but now every time I get incoming email a blank email from my address is sent back automatically to the sender. I didn't realise this until friends told me they were getting emails from me with no text. Very annoying. Help please- Is there a simple tweak to remedy this?

Have you got settings for return receipts ? Mind you the email being sent should still not be blank.
'Tools' > 'Options' > Advanced' > 'General' tab click on 'Return receipts' button. under : 'when I receive a request for a return receipt' select: 'Never send a return receipt' click on OK's
Do you have anything in the 'Sent' folder ?
I'm just wondering if Thunderbird is actually sending this email or whether there is a setting on the server that is sending the email.
Are you using Pop or Imap mail account?
I was thinking it might be worth performing a test. Ask your friend to send an email to you as you are doing some tests regarding the blank emails. Then immediately, go into 'Offline' mode to stop Thunderbird synchronising/accessing the server. Make sure Outlook is not running. Logon to webmail and wait for an email from friend. When the server receives the email from friend, respond back via webmail account asking if she got a blank email. If yes, then you know it is the server and not thunderbird.
