Try clearing the cache, and see how much the 1.2 GB decreases. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache

What is the location of these files?

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder. Location used for the main profile in "AppData\Roaming".

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files in "AppData\Local".

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

If you mean an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop, that contains your profile folder(s) as of the time you used the Refresh feature. If it has been more than 2 weeks and you haven't noticed anything important missing, then I don't think you have any further reason to keep that folder.
