Playing any video, searching on Google, or just surfing the web - rainbow wheel keeps popping up every 30 seconds

Every time I watch a video, try to type something on a website or just surf the web, the spinning wheel on my Mac just pops up. This happens every 30 seconds or so. I've tried "disabling hardware acceleration" but that honestly had no impact/made it worse. Why does this happen and what can I do to make everything run smoothly? Thank you!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
