New problem with opening a link in a new tab
I'm running El Capitan on a 2104 Mac Air.
My preferences are set to open links in a new tab, but not switch to it immediately. Suddenly I'm being switched to the new tab. I thought it was a problem with just one site, but now it's happening on multiple sites.
I've rechecked my preferences. They look fine.
Any ideas?

Thanks to both of you, cor-el and Fred! Cor-el, I'll check that configuration to see if it cleans up the last irritating bits.

MClickFocusTab {web link} While using mouse middle-click to open new tabs, with a short- time clicking to open new tabs in background, with a long-time clicking to open new tabs in foreground.
It took me a while to grasp what you were saying, Fred! Thank you for the add-on suggestion. I was looking to fix the problem with the existing preferences.
This seems to have healed itself - only occasionally am I tossed over to the new tab immediately. It's infrequent enough that I can live with it.
Thanks!
There are these prefs, accessible via the about:config page, to control the focus if you click a link (open link in background or foreground).
- browser.tabs.loadInBackground (normal links)
- browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground (javascript)
- browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground (bookmarks)
- browser.search.context.loadInBackground
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Glad to help. Safe Surfing. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
