Firefox 44 not clearing history after closing of browser
I have my privacy settings set at "Use custom settings for history" and then specifically "clear history when Firefox closes." Under the settings for that option I have almost everything clicked. However, all of a sudden, after this last session in which I closed out and restarted my computer, all of my active logins are still in place, which is something I specifically have checked to be removed when I close out of Firefox. I've tried now closing out all the ways one can exist Firefox, and it's still keeping me logged in to all of my sites.
What's the deal? It just started doing this. This is the fourth or fifth issue I've had with this version of Firefox - with no other changes to my computer - in just the past week. It's not my add ons or extensions as far as I can tell.
Edit
Forum note
I wonder if potentially bug 1243549 related. No time to answer properly so adding a note by edit instead J99.

Hi FirefoxFan1, Sorry you are having problems.
OK there is a new known bug in Firefox 44, however it may actually be something else affecting you.
How vital is it for you right now to have history cleared ?
With any luck there will be fix within a few weeks for this bug one way or another or it will be shown there are methods to avoid the problem. Of course I do not know this is your issue, but it does complicate potential troubleshooting of the issue.
I have an idea for a workaround, I will have to test that out, and update myself on the bug progress.
I suppose you have solved your other issues or at least asked about them, any outstanding issues ? (I will cross link your earlier question in a few minutes)

I'd be glad to hear your workaround, because I have to be able to not have Firefox running slower than it already does, so I need to know how to automatically clear my history when I end a session.
I was thinking about a possibility for avoiding the potential bug 1243549 issue, IF that is part of your problem. I was hoping that with others looking at your problems maybe someone would find you a solution.
Of course you are specifically at the moment trying to clear history that may be part of the problem, because right now Firefox seems to have a bug that is seen when History is cleared automatically.
Why are you trying to clear History. If it is for privacy reason why not just set up separate user account with a pasword for each user on the computer ?
You say
I have to be able to not have Firefox running slower than it already does, so I need to know how to automatically clear my history when I end a session.
May I ask: ""Do you think clearing History etc, will make Firefox faster, & if so why and what have you read ?" One of the History related settings is to automatically clear the cache, and sometimes clearing the cache may helps with issues, but generally the cache is there to help speed things up.
- Settings: How to clear the Firefox cache_automatically-clear-the-cache
As a test you will need to your history clearing etc back to the default settings. A quick and easy way of achieving that and more is to use the built in profile manager and run Firefox in a newly created profile. In fact if you are suffering from bug1243549 that is fixed in Firefox 45 onwards. You could switch to Firefox Developer Edition Channel as I was suggesting in another question, {see /questions/1110662#answer-846478}but if you wait couple of weeks some of these problems should go anyway anyway when the update to Fx45 hits the standard Release on about 8th March.
