
Configuration could not be verfied -- is the user name or password wrong?
I met this error when I setup my account on thunderbird from this morning, and I took the whole day for finding a solution but have not yet. I tried reboot computer, reinstall thunderbird, reset the network, but had not effect.
The email I use is provided by mxhichina that is the large provider for email service in China, and I use thunderbird from a few years ago, never met this issue.
The version of thunderbird is 24.4 on ubuntu.
I am sure the email address, password, pop3 server, smtp server is correctly because the same setting is not any problem on other computer with the same version thunderbird, and I checked again by again!

And the same setting works fine with other emaile client on the same computer... of course fine also on https://mail.mxhichina.com/ (the web client of mxhichina)
Thanks for providing an image to clarify your point. I would suggest you check the 'username'.
Currently, your 'username' is the part before the '@' in your email address. Suggest you try typing in your full email address and click on 'Re-test' button.
