My autofill no longer works when I begin to type in an email address, might I have inadvertently turned this off, how to turn it back on.

I am used to the program offering completed suggestions when I begin to type in an email address, so I don't have to remember them all or email from my contact list. This feature no longer works. Could something have been changed? How do I enable autofill when entering email addresses in the compose address line?
