I did a system restore and lost my bookmarks, and trying to restore them didn't work because only the current day's date was listed. How do I get them back?
I am not sure if there is a solution since there is only 1 date listed to choose from to restore the favorites/bookmarks. Please help if you can, thank you!
Chosen solution
Open current profile Close Firefox Copy old files to new profile (overwrite current) Start Firefox

A system restore can hurt other programs, including Firefox.
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because only white-listed files are restored, so always be cautious with using System Restore.
- You may lose data in the Firefox profile folder like .js and .ini files
- You may need to reinstall affected software
It is possible that the profiles.ini file got restored to an older version.
You can check if you have multiple profile folder in the default location used for profiles.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Go up one level to the profiles folder.
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

I was able to open the old data folder and find the places file. But I don't have the option to open it with Mozilla, only IE. When I opened it with IE, the browser opened up. How do I open it with Mozilla if it's not an option, since my favorites were saved under Mozilla and not IE?

Don't open the file. Copy the file(s) you want to the current profile. You will have to over-write the current file(s).
I don't understand how to copy the file to the current profile...how do I find the current profile. Is it in a folder somewhere?
Oh I found the current profile. I copied the old places file to the current profile. Do I need to restart the computer and then just open the browser to see if my old favorites are restored?
All you need to do it start Firefox.
Unfortunately none of the old bookmarks showed up when I opened Firefox.
