Simple pass does not work after 43 update

Error message reads:

Simple Pass could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled. . .

I either need to revert back to an older version of Firefox, or I need instructions on how to have this verified (that a non-programmer could understand). This is a recurring issue with Firefox. Do I need to switch to Chrome to avoid this issue in the future?

Current Firefox releases require extensions to be signed to prevent abuse by malware. In Firefox 43 unsigned extensions will be disabled by default. You can set xpinstall.signatures.required to false to disable this security feature in Firefox 43. In later Firefox% release and beta builds (47+) you may not be able to override this anymore.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
