Is there a security risk to sticking witn Firefox version 43.0 as opposed to 43.04? as Trusteer Rapport doesn't work with 43.04 yet

I have on going recurrent problem with using Rapport and upgrades to Firefox, where the Rapport utility sometimes works ie. displays an icon in the tool bar so is functioning when Firefox is active or, the icon disappears and requires a new release from Trusteer. Their application still works with Safari. As Firefox keeps getting updated...which is great rather than wait a long period and release an update with cumulative changes that could have been fixed sooner esp. regarding security flaws. I can work around this by using another browser but this is not a great solution.

I am using OSX 10.9.5

hi Mog932, most of the updates after 43.0 were due to specific windows code-signing issues - however one issue with moderate impact got fixed as well: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox/

overall i think you're fine continuing with 43.0 for the moment...

Hi Philip, thanks for the response. I had already applied the update 43.04 then noticed the Rapport icon was missing from the toolbar. IBM told me they are looking at it. However, I have found a fix, not that I understand what is actually occuring during initialisation, but I assume the new version scans the local database configurations.

I downloaded a copy of version 43.03 (glad older copies are held in a library), it loaded and the icon comes up. I then ran version 43.04 and the icon then reappeared. I then removed verson 43.03 and it works fine. I assumed that Rapport had been updated automatically, but when I looked at my laptop and the same version is present. Updating this to 43.04 did the same, ie Rapport Icon lost. I then installed 43.03 ran it the icon is present, then ran 43.04 and the icon is comes back, deleted 43.03 and the computer works fine. Both are macs running osx10.9.5.

It looks like something is lost/not initialised during the update. I find that some updates don't affect rapport and others do, the pattern seemed to follow whole number version changes rather than minor changes but this is an exception. IBM eventually release an update but there is a lag in tracking Firefox changes.

Update: Just for the record, although I managed to get the icon back in 43.04, when I came to actually using the utilitiy to protect a site it failed to work. I have now reinstalled version 43.03 which is compatable with Rapport's current version 3.6.1507.53
