Why did firefox NOT show my windows and tabs from last session?

When I opened firefox it had none of my windows or tabs from previous session and "restore previous session" is greyed out!

Sorry, but am I wasting my time asking for an answer? It's just that this (mozilla support) tells me I have 3 replies but I only received 1 email?
