How to enable automatic updates?

My Firefox won't update automatically anymore. Even if I check on Help --> About Firefox, it runs for a while and then it says it is updated. I have another FF installation on my work laptop, and it correctly picks up updates, this version on pc doesn't.

Please, I have already tried manually updating to the latest firefox a few weeks ago: I am now running version 42 here. Yet, today my work pc got updated to 43.0.2, and this one doesn't.

I would not like to completely remove FF in order not to loose my add-ons, could you please guide me to reinstate normal auto-update feature?

Thanks

Hello everyone, I have solved it!!! Roaming through the options I found this one:

app.update.url.override

which sounded immediately good. Its value was custom, and it was:

http://au4.mozilla.org

Though it seemed legitimate to me, I tried resetting it to standard, and as soon as I did, FF started downloading updates!!!

all your customizations (addons, bookmarks, passwords, etc) will remain, since they are stored in a separate profile folder.

Okay, I removed Firefox completely. The automatic removal also was able to delete any Mozilla Firefox folder that was on the filesystem, so I didn't need to delete it manually. I also removed Mozilla maintenance service.

Then I reinstalled FF 42. This time I chose to install FF 64 bit, so it: 1) Created the Mozilla FF directory in C:\Program Files 2) Created the Mozilla Maintenance Service directory in C:\Program Files(x86)

Then, again, I went on ? -> About Firefox and checked for updates: it doesn't show any update, though 43.0.2 is out. :( :( :(

Additionally: the Maintenance Service is in "Manual" activation. If I force it to start, the system says it started and then stopped

Question: which servers does FF contact to check for updates? Maybe for some reason these ip/hostnames are blocked on my pc?

That was very good work. Well Done.
