I downloaded this version onto system 10 of windows. all looks well but there is not a "Send" button like all the other versions of Thunderbird that I have used. I like the looks of the calander and task functions but I am desperate for my E-mail

Also, are you running 38.4.0 Thunderbird??

Or the 38.5.0 which just released today?

The send button is in the write window. Before you can send a message you need to write it, or select an older message to forward or reply to.

I have done the very thing you have suggested, but the write window does not have a means of forwarding it or replying. Sure wish this would do it thanks anyway

Some basic computer skills would be useful. When the Menu Bar is hidden pressing the alt key or F10 makes them appear. The latest trend is to replace the Menu Bar with a Menu button. It is 3 horizontal lines. Doing either of these will reveal a Menu with View on it. If you need to change the view that is the place to start Select View-Toolbars and turn on the missing toolbars. You have to do this in each window since they all have their own set of toolbars.

Same advice; enable toolbars in the Write window.

You have Reply and Forward buttons in the main window. Why would you expect to find them in the Write window?

  • If you want to reply to a message, select it, click Reply.
  • If you want to forward a message, select it, click Forward. In both cases a right-click could be used as well.
  • If you want to create a new message from scratch, click Write.

Any of these will bring you to a Write window where you enter new content or edit existing content. The Write window is the only logical place for a Send button. If you don't have a Send button then maybe you don't have a toolbar. Again, in the Write window, alt+v, toolbars and tick the checkboxes. Or maybe a right-click on the Tab Bar will offer you this choice. I can't check here right now.

If you enable the Menu Bar in the main window, you'll see the Help button that exposes "About Thunderbird" and through that to its version number. You can probably also get this via the menu button at top right, with the horizontal lines.
