When Thunderbird receives new email, a window pops up notifying me of new email with the list of new emails. How do I turn that off?

Based on prior posts, one member had this problem but then posted that they had solved the problem. However; I have not been able to read how he/she solved it.

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Options > General > When new messages arrive.

Uncheck 'Show an alert'.

From the Menu Bar select Tools-Options-General
