Hi. I wanna know about something in FireFox. I want to know that I want to keep my cookies but delete all logins when I close my Firefox. I googled it a lot but couldn't find a answer. So is it possible to do that. Yeah I went to options-privacy-clear history when firefox closes-settings-only active logins ticked and the others off. I logged it to twitter, closed firefox and then again i opened firefox and went to twitter and was logged in. That didn't solve my problem. So please help me. I just wanna keep the cookies but clear all logins.

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

You have to remove the cookies from a website to make the website forget about you.

"Active Logins" is about servers that use basic authentication and not use cookies to authenticate (remember you).

If you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear Cookies then exclude cookies and instead let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"

Create an 'allow' cookie exception for cookies that you want to keep like special "remember me" cookies.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

Firefox stores cookies used in tabs that are currently open in the sessionstore.js file as part of saved session data, so those cookies will be restored if Firefox is closed without first closing these tabs.

You can set the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level pref to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore in the sessionstore.js file. The browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred pref is used when you do not reopen the previous session automatically via "Show my windows and tabs from last time" and uses the same values.

Wait I didn't understand what you said. Lemme clear my problem: I just want to keep cookies from only one site. And I want other cookies to be deleted (like site where I'm logged in) when I close Firefox. I chose clear history when Firefox closes and in settings I chose active Logins, cookies and cache. And far next to "Accept cookies from sites" in exceptions I put the website address from which I don't want cookies to be deleted. But I closed firefox and my cookies were deleted. Hope you understood and can also make me understand.

You can also post a video. Thanks.

If you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies then all cookies are deleted including cookies with an allow exception. The only way to keep cookies with an allow exception is to let the cookies expire when you close Firefox.

Thanks. I can now use Firefox as I like. When I close Firefox all the sites where i am logged it automatically logs me out. And only the site with an allow exception keeps me logged in and the cookies form that site is also not deleted.

Here is my privacy settings preview:

Always use private browsing mode- off Remember my browsing and download history- on Remember search and form history- on Accept cookies from sites- on (with allow exception of my desired website) Accept cookies from sites- Always Keep until- I close Firefox Clear history when Firefox closes- off

One thing: I think Firefox still remembers when window is closed. For testing I closed Firefox and immediately opened it and saw i was logged in. Then I again closed it and opened Firefox after some moments and I was logged out. Maybe Firefox needs some time to forget the cookies after closing. But it's okay it's no problem for me. Thanks
